Montevideo, Uruguay
Welcome
Welcome to the VI Latin American Hydropower and Systems Meeting!
We are pleased to announce that this edition will be held in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, between October 27 and 31, 2025. This event brings together researchers, professionals, students and companies from the hydropower sector to share the latest advances in the development, operation and sustainability of hydroelectric systems.
Within the framework of this meeting, we will explore key topics such as Physical and numerical modeling of turbomachines, Design and manufacturing of turbines and components, Maintenance, repair and repowering of hydraulic turbines, Cavitation and oscillations in turbomachines, Unconventional and marine hydraulic energy, Management of hydroelectric reservoirs, Data science for monitoring hydraulic machines, among others. In addition, it will be an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration between Latin American countries in a strategic sector for sustainable development.
Uruguay has some of the oldest large hydroelectric plants in the region, which are currently undergoing renovation. Furthermore, the country is positioned at the forefront in the participation of renewable sources in its energy matrix, with a high rate of wind energy, which has implied a redefinition of the role of large hydroelectric plants.
Montevideo, with its rich history, vibrant culture and views of the Río de la Plata, will be the perfect setting to foster the exchange of ideas and the growth of our community.
We look forward to seeing you in Montevideo in October 2025!
